Cassie Herold is a real New York City teen. Besides school she is almost to be found in a TV commercial studio for a new castings, audtitions go-sees or recordings But then one day she get’s word from her agent Honey that she is out forcastings, and that she has to ask her mom the reason why. Her mom tells her that she is very dissapointed in Cassie: because Cassie was too busy with all her TV commercials, she didn’t hand in an important science report of the periodic table for Foundations of Science class. And now her science grade is flunked! With her best friend Ginger, she has to find out a way to get her grades up, and to get a chance to still stay in the fun TV commercial bizz. She signs up for summer school. Nevin, a guy Cassie knows from school, is also attending summer school to get his science grades up. Cassie always found him a little awkward with him calling her Milady, but during the summer, she finds out he is more than just a really good friend. She also gets to spend time with her long time crush Rory, who is also showing up at the same audtitions she attends. But then she finds out in a hard way that he is acting a little bit too nice to other girls as well.. And hile Cassie is in the middle of many just picture perfect families, her own family life starts to shatter a bit: her father is always on the road, and she misses him terribly. He plans to fly over to New York to see her a few times, but it is always cancelled. Her mom is far different from the always dressed up commercial moms, and Cassie just wishes everything was better in her own life. But then her parents break the news to her that they are having a divorce. .Will everything get back on track for Cassie this summer?
Picture Perfect is just the PERFECT follow up to Famous in Thirty Seconds, the first book in this fun new series by P.G. Kain. Somehow I liked Cassie in a lot of ways more than Phoebe, the main character of the first book. While Phoebe could be a little to pleased with herself at some points, Cassie is a very realistic, friendly and kind main character. In the tv commercials she appears in, everything seems perfect, but not in her own life. I felt really sorry for her the way her dad acted and always cancelled their plans to see each other. Luckily for her she can count on the support of the best friends you can imagine: Ginger, who is adopted from China and is attending Chinese school for summer, where she tries to get the attention of her crush Wing-Mei, who clearly doesn’t know she exists. I loved to read how the friendship between Cassie and Nevin developed, that was one of the most fun things of this book.. The end was just fantastic and how loved how the author wrapped up the story, and I am already looking forward to book 3. This is a book not to miss !
