Abby Berkeley has one goal in mind: to become a lifeguard at the Beachwood Country Club. But she is insecure if she ever will reach it, because she is not a member of the private and elite club and feels as an outcast , even though her best friend Zoe is one of the members. But then her dream comes true when she is accepted for the lifeguard training, but she is also forced to accept a second job at the club’s snackbar. Most of the members treat her different because she is from outside the club, and even her parents remind her day after day that this isn’t the right place for her. But she has a good reason to stay, because the boy who broke her heart earlier, Brody Wilson is guarding the same beach. Things clear up between them and Brody becomes Abby’s personal trainer and they have a great time working out together. And they start dating again! But then Brody’s ex-girlfriend, Lexi, a wealthy club member, reminds Abby again that she is from a different world and that Brody and she are just a summer fling. But then Brody makes sure that Abby and he are truly together. And will Abby become one of the lifeguards, win the important competition and get a scholarship?
Making Waves is a perfect read to start summer! The story takes you immediately to the golden beaches and the blue sea of Malibu. You immediately feel the sun shining on your head as if you are walking there yourself! It has a fun mix of teen characters, with Abby as the shining star. Abby didn’t have an easy time starting as a lifeguard trainee and snackbar waitress, but she really starts to fight to reach her goal. It sometimes was a bit confusing who was who in Abby’s circle of friends, and that is shortly said the only point of critique I have about the story. I also loved how the romance between Abby and Brody was building up again and it was just fun to read how they trained together and had a great time. This is just a book that you read with a smile from the start till the end. Just pick up a copy of this fun and sporty fifth book in the excellend Pretty Though series! Already looking out to what's coming next!
