Its going to be an awesome year for Kelsey Finkelstein. She is fourteen years old and lives in Brooklyn, New York with her kind of impossible family and annoying little sister Travis. But already in the first week, a few some not so awesome things happen. First of all: her mom picked the most hideous outfit at Loehmann’s(crazy red blazer and checked pants…!!!) for her first day of school. She is picked for the school soccer team (because of her arch-enemy who moved across the country..yess! And..she does catch the eye of her long time crush!

But then the first schoolpaper of the year is released; what’s that picture of her (read: the kind of picture that is used against you!) doing in it? And why are hideous pics of her appearing in the next editions of it? Luckily, Kelsey has the best friends to rely on and she even gets a new best friend who is kind of popular but really nice. She  discover’s that soccer isn’t her thing, and signs up fpr the spring musical, Fiddler on the Roof, where she is cast as Lazar Wolf. Uh oh…so now she has to wear a fat costume and a stick-on beard and play a butcher man? It seems like Kelsey’s freshman year fate is not on her side…is it summer yet??

This is just an amazing an laugh-out-loud debut novel by Meredith Zeitlin. I loved Kelsey's snarky voice of telling the whole story and all the awkward things ánd cool things that happened in her crazy freshman year. And no, this book wasn't predictable (what I expected a little bit) its is so full of the most fun twists and turns that as a reader, I raced through this fast paced book. Great characters, original plot, what's not to like about this book? Definately recommended, don't miss out this one if you are in for fun!
